How to Hire Warehouse and Logistics Workers for the UK: Which Roles Can Be Sponsored?

UK warehousing and logistics operations — distribution centres, fulfilment hubs, cold storage facilities and supply chain management — face persistent labour shortages that have worsened since Brexit. While general warehouse operative roles sit below the Skilled Worker skill threshold, supervisory, management and specialist logistics roles are fully sponsorable. This guide covers which warehouse and logistics roles qualify for sponsorship in 2026 and how UK employers fill them internationally.

Which Logistics Roles Can Be Sponsored?

General operatives cannot be sponsored. The Skilled Worker visa requires RQF Level 3 or above. Picking, packing, forklift and general warehouse labour do not meet this threshold. The sponsorable logistics roles are management, specialist and driver positions.

The Management and Specialist Opportunity

For logistics companies struggling with both frontline and management gaps, the sponsorship opportunity is at the supervisory and management level. International warehouse managers, supply chain specialists and transport planners are available from markets with strong logistics traditions.

Source Countries for Logistics

Where to Source

India — deep supply chain management pool, strong logistics education infrastructure.

South Africa — strong warehouse and distribution management tradition.

Philippines — growing logistics and supply chain management pool.

Salary Thresholds for Logistics Roles

Most logistics management roles have going rates between £35,000–£40,000. The general threshold of £38,700 is the binding constraint for most. If any of these SOC codes appear on the ISL, the threshold drops to £30,960 — check the current list.
