Quarry and Mining Equipment Ltd is recruiting Underground Construction Plant Fitters for our premises at Coolfore Road, Ardbraccan, Navan, County Meath, Ireland. The salary range starts from €59,750 (€22.56/hr) based on a 40-hour week. Salary may be more based on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required.

As an Underground Construction Plant Fitter, you will be integral to our maintenance team, responsible for keeping our complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems operational within the demanding environment of underground mining. The role involves diagnosing faults, performing preventative and emergency repairs, and ensuring all equipment functions safely and efficiently. Working in a fast-paced underground environment requires adherence to strict safety protocols, proper handling of tools, and effective communication with team members.
The work environment is safety-critical, with equipment such as excavators, conveyors, loaders, and other mobile machinery requiring routine maintenance. You will be trained in the latest techniques and safety procedures to stay compliant with regulations. Travel within sites or to supplier facilities may be necessary, and flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, is often required. **Responsibilities:**
- Carry out preventative, emergency, and predictive maintenance of all mobile equipment throughout the fleet.
- Troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems to identify faults efficiently.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance to prevent equipment failure.
- Complete accurate documentation of repairs, services, and diagnostics.
- Collaborate with safety officers to ensure all work adheres to health and safety standards.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety during all maintenance activities.
- Repair and replace faulty parts with quality components.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding waste disposal and emissions.
- Assist in the training of new staff and apprentices.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to diagnose complex faults.
- Keep updated with new maintenance techniques and technological advancements.
**Key Requirements:**
- Safe Pass Certification is required.
- Manual Handling certification is required.
- First Aid Responder certification is required.
- Valid drivers' license, preferably Class B.
- Experience in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, especially in a mining or heavy machinery environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards and regulations for heavy equipment.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and in challenging underground conditions.
- Good physical fitness for manual tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic IT skills for documentation and communication.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including night shifts.
