HGV Driver

Construction Demo is recruiting a qualified and experienced HGV Driver for our premises at 19 Lower Baggot Street, monkstown, Ireland. The salary range starts from €70,000 (€33.65/hr) based on a 40-hour week. Salary may be more based on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required. As an HGV Driver with Construction Demo, you will be responsible for delivering large commercial vehicles such as lorries, trucks, and coaches to various destinations across Ireland and potentially beyond. The role involves safe and efficient operation of heavy goods vehicles, adhering strictly to road safety regulations, vehicle maintenance schedules, and transport legislation. You will be expected to plan routes efficiently, maintain accurate delivery logs, and ensure all loads are correctly secured. Work involves early mornings, possible overnight stays, and call-outs in emergency situations. Work conditions are challenging but rewarding, with safety and compliance being our top priorities. The role offers training in advanced driving techniques, safety procedures, and vehicle maintenance, providing opportunities for progression into supervisory or logistics management positions. The daily duties include loading and unloading cargo, inspecting vehicles before and after trips, and reporting any mechanical issues promptly. You will also handle digital reporting systems and communicate effectively with dispatchers and clients to ensure smooth operations. The environment is a busy transport hub with tasks demanding high attention to detail and safety consciousness. **Responsibilities:** - Safe transport of goods across designated routes, including long-distance trips. - Conduct pre-trip, in-trip, and post-trip vehicle inspections. - Ensure cargo is correctly loaded and secured according to safety standards. - Maintain accurate logs and documentation for compliance. - Follow all traffic laws, health and safety regulations. - Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding schedules and issues. - Handle vehicle maintenance requests and minor repairs. - Manage digital reporting and customer interaction logs. - Assist with loading/unloading and use equipment such as forklifts if necessary. - Participate in regular safety training and vehicle checks. **Key Requirements:** - Valid Category C or C+E HGV License. - Minimum of 3 years experience in heavy goods vehicle driving, preferably with commercial fleets. - Good knowledge of Irish and EU transport regulations. - Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts. - Physical fitness for manual handling and long driving hours. - Strong communication skills and a professional attitude. - Experience with digital reporting systems. - Understanding of vehicle safety standards and maintenance. - Proven track record of safe driving and punctuality. - Certificates in CPC and ADR (preferred but not essential). **Additional Information:** - Overtime may be available with increased pay rates. - Work may include night/weekend shifts depending on service schedules. - Benefits include health insurance options, ongoing driver training, and career development programs. - Opportunities for progression into supervisory roles or fleet management.
