Heavy Plant Fitter

CASTLE QUARRY CRUSHING & PLANT HIRE LIMITED requires multiple Heavy Plant Fitter roles for their premises at Brooklodge Demense, Ballyglunin, Galway H54 C6V2.

The salary range starts from €36,605 (18.05/hr) to €42,000 based on a 39-hour week. Salary will increase proportionately if additional hours are required. Salary offered shall be based on relevant experience and qualifications.

Job Description: Independent, self-sufficient Heavy Plant Fitter responsible for the maintenance, servicing and repair of heavy plant machinery including excavators, front end loaders, crushers and screeners. The role requires diagnostics and fault finding across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems, attending to on-site breakdowns to minimise downtime, inspecting plant equipment to ensure safety and compliance, and ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety regulations. Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a high level of safety awareness are essential. Good spoken and written English is required.

Responsibilities: Carry out maintenance, servicing and repair of heavy plant machinery (excavators, loaders, crushers, screeners); perform diagnostics and fault finding on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems; attend on-site breakdowns and emergency call-outs to minimise downtime; inspect plant equipment to ensure it is safe, compliant and fit for use; maintain accurate records of work carried out and parts used; ensure adherence to company and statutory Health & Safety policies and procedures; recommend repairs or part replacements and support preventative maintenance programmes.

Requirements: Relevant trade qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical or plant engineering, or demonstrable equivalent hands-on experience (typically 3+ years) as a Plant Fitter/Heavy Plant Mechanic/Mechanical Fitter. Strong working knowledge of hydraulics, engines, transmissions and electrics. Proven fault-finding and diagnostic skills using common test equipment. Ability to read technical drawings and service manuals. Full, valid driving licence preferred. High level of safety awareness and ability to work independently. Good spoken and written English. Relevant safety or plant operator certifications (where applicable) are advantageous.
