Constuction Demo is recruiting an Estimator for our premises at 19 Lower Baggot Street, monkstown, Ireland. The salary range starts from €55,000 (€21.87/hr) based on a 40-hour week. Salary may be more based on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required.
The primary purpose of the Estimator role is to prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for various construction projects, including building and civil engineering works. As an Estimator, your daily activities will include analyzing architectural and engineering plans, quantifying materials and labor requirements, and preparing comprehensive proposals. You will work in a dynamic environment that necessitates close collaboration with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors. The role demands precision, analytical skills, and a strong understanding of construction costs.
Work conditions are typically in an office environment, with site visits when necessary. You will utilize industry-standard estimating software, CAD programs, and spreadsheet tools to support your responsibilities. Occasional travel to project sites may be required, especially during early estimation phases or project monitoring. The position offers training opportunities in advanced estimating techniques and career progression into senior project management roles.
**Responsibilities:**
- Gathering and studying project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Determining materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
- Negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive prices.
- Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates aligned with project scope.
- Collaborating with project managers and engineers to refine estimates and monitor costs.
- Assisting in bid submissions and review processes.
- Tracking project costs and variances throughout the construction cycle.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legal and safety standards.
- Maintaining organized records of all estimates and associated documentation.
- Supporting procurement activities by providing estimates for procurement planning.
- Updating estimates based on changes during project execution.
- Contributing to project risk assessments based on cost analysis.
**Key Requirements:**
- A degree in construction management, quantity surveying, civil engineering, architecture, or a related discipline.
- Professional certifications or diplomas in estimating or project management (e.g., RICS, CIOB) are advantageous.
- Demonstrable experience as a construction estimator is essential.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills for clear stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to interpret complex architectural and engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of estimating software, CAD, and spreadsheets.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations relevant to construction.
- Valid work authorization for Ireland.
