Why employers choose the Critical Skills route
The Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP) is designed for roles Ireland actively wants to fill — most of the Critical Skills Occupations List is technical, engineering, ICT and healthcare. It skips the Labour Market Needs Test, so it's usually faster to file than a General Employment Permit.
It also offers immediate family reunification and a path to Stamp 4 (long-term residence) after two years, which makes it a strong retention tool for senior hires.
The two salary routes
There are two ways to qualify: a role on the Critical Skills list with a relevant degree at the standard threshold, or the high-salary route that opens almost any eligible occupation. The current figures are in the table below.
How Recruitroo files a CSEP
We confirm the occupation is on the list, check the salary against the right threshold, gather the degree and role evidence, and submit and track the permit on your behalf — then coordinate the visa, arrival and onboarding.

Frequently asked questions
Do Critical Skills permits need a Labour Market Needs Test?
No — that's one of the main advantages. Critical Skills Employment Permit applications don't require the Labour Market Needs Test, which typically makes them faster to prepare and file than a General Employment Permit.
What roles qualify for a Critical Skills Employment Permit?
Occupations on the Critical Skills Occupations List — heavily weighted to ICT, engineering, science and healthcare — or almost any eligible role via the high-salary route. We check your specific job title against the current list before filing.
When can a Critical Skills worker apply for Stamp 4?
Generally after two years on the permit, subject to meeting the conditions at the time. We flag the settlement pathway during route selection because it's a strong retention argument for senior hires.
