O'Sullivan Crash Repairs is recruiting a Panel Beater for our premises at Main St, Ballydehob, Cork. The salary range starts from €34,000 (€16.77/hr) based on a 39-hour week. Salary may be more based on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required.
We are seeking an experienced Panel Beater to join our dedicated team of automotive repair specialists. The main purpose of this role is to repair, replace, and restore vehicle body panels and frames damaged in accidents, ensuring vehicles are returned to their original condition. The work environment is a well-equipped workshop with modern metalworking tools, welding equipment, and finishing stations. The role involves using a variety of hand and power tools to assess damage, remove damaged parts, and perform precise repairs. The technician will also realign chassis and body frames, prepare surfaces for painting, and ensure repairs meet strict safety and quality standards.
Candidates may occasionally need to travel for parts or client meetings but primarily work in the workshop. Shifts are scheduled during standard working hours, but flexibility is preferred for occasional overtime or weekend work depending on workload. Training opportunities include ongoing skills development in advanced repair techniques and safety protocols. Career progression could lead to supervisory roles or specialist technical positions.
**Responsibilities:**
- Assess and estimate vehicle damage accurately.
- Remove, repair, or replace damaged panels and chassis.
- Weld, grind, sand, and prepare surfaces for refinishing.
- Realign chassis and body structures to factory standards.
- Prepare all surfaces for painting and finishing.
- Ensure all repairs are compliant with safety standards.
- Operate metalworking, welding, and sanding equipment safely and effectively.
- Keep accurate records of repairs for each vehicle.
- Collaborate with other team members to meet deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and safe workshop environment.
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding repair work.
- Comply with environmental regulations and dispose of waste responsibly.
- Support training initiatives and share technical knowledge.
- Perform quality checks to ensure high standards.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Handle equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
**Key Requirements:**
- Safe Pass Certification (not mandatory but preferred).
- Manual Handling Training (not required in this case).
- Experience in vehicle body repairs, ideally at least 2 years.
- Good knowledge of automotive repair standards.
- Ability to use welding equipment and metalworking tools.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Adequate physical fitness for manual handling and working in confined spaces.
- Good communication skills.
- Flexibility to work overtime when necessary.
- Valid international permit accepted.
