Fort Motors LTD is recruiting a Motor Vehicle Technician for our premises at 12 Cromwell's Fort Road, Walkinstown, Dublin 12, Ireland. The salary range starts from €40,000 (€19.23/hr) based on a 40-hour week. Salary may be more based on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required.
As a Motor Vehicle Technician, your primary responsibility will be to diagnose and repair various vehicle faults, ensuring all work aligns with dealership standards. You will be responsible for performing vehicle services, such as oil changes, brake replacements, and system diagnostics, often using advanced diagnostic tools and equipment. The role requires a detailed understanding of automotive systems whether Honda-specific or Citroen-specific, and an ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
The work environment is busy and fast-paced, requiring technicians to work efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. You will routinely use diagnostic software, hand tools, and specialized equipment to identify issues and execute repairs. Work may occasionally involve travel for training or to customer sites, and shift patterns are generally standard but may include occasional after-hours work to meet customer deadlines. Fort Motors provides ongoing factory-sponsored training to keep skills current and support career progression.
Responsibilities include conducting vehicle health checks, maintaining accurate records of repairs, ensuring safety procedures are followed, and liaising with parts departments for necessary components. The role also involves notifying service advisors of additional required work, obtaining customer authorization, and ensuring customer satisfaction through professional service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose vehicle malfunctions using diagnostic tools and software.
- Perform vehicle repairs and routine maintenance tasks.
- Consult service schedules and work on various car makes, primarily Honda or Citroen.
- Communicate effectively with parts department and customers regarding vehicle issues.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with dealership standards and safety regulations.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness of the workspace.
- Keep detailed records of work performed, parts used, and time taken.
- Attend factory training courses to stay updated on latest vehicle technologies.
- Support team activities and contribute to a positive working environment.
- Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations.
Key Requirements:
- Fully qualified Motor Technician with experience in diagnostics and repair.
- Honda or Citroen experience preferred.
- Proven ability to produce high-quality work efficiently.
- Good English language skills, verbal and written.
- Valid or preferred drivers' license.
- Minimum Level Trade/Apprenticeship qualification in automotive.
- Strong knowledge of vehicle servicing procedures and diagnostics.
- Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
- Safety certification as required by law.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Physical fitness suitable for vehicle repairs.
