We Build is recruiting a Carpenter for our premises at 1 Long Road, Cork, Ireland. The salary range starts from €40,000 (€19.23/hr) based on a 40-hour week. Salary may be more based on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required.
Our company is seeking a dedicated and experienced Carpenter to join our construction team. The main purpose of this role is to perform both first fix and second fix carpentry tasks across diverse projects, ensuring precision and high-quality standards. Daily activities include reading technical drawings, measuring and cutting materials, constructing timber structures, fitting doors, installing kitchens, and performing finishing work. The role involves working in a dynamic environment on busy construction sites, often requiring adherence to strict health and safety regulations. The successful candidate will be proficient with handheld and power tools, capable of interpreting technical specifications, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
Candidates can expect to operate in various settings, ranging from residential to commercial building sites. The role involves using tools such as saws, drills, levels, and measuring equipment, and following building codes to ensure safety and compliance. While traveling between sites may be occasionally required, most work is based in Cork with local travel. The position includes shift patterns that align with project needs, often weekdays with occasional weekend work. **Responsibilities:**
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Measure, cut, and assemble timber and other materials as per specifications.
- Construct and install timber frameworks, ensuring structural integrity.
- Fit internal doors, windows, and bespoke joinery items.
- Install fitted kitchens and perform finishing carpentry.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations on-site.
- Collaborate with project managers and other trades to meet project deadlines.
- Perform on-site troubleshooting and rectify issues promptly.
- Maintain equipment and ensure proper safety standards.
- Keep detailed records of work completed, including measurements and materials used.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of junior staff where applicable.
- Participate in site meetings and support continuous improvement processes.
**Key Requirements:**
- Qualified Carpenter with a relevant trade qualification (e.g., FETAC/QQI Level 6 Advanced Craft Certificate in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent).
- Minimum of 3-5 years post-qualification experience in carpentry.
- Valid Safe Pass certification is mandatory.
- Valid CSCS Card for relevant machinery/tasks is highly advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with precision.
- Strong practical skills with attention to detail.
- Good knowledge of health and safety regulations in construction.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible and reliable with good work ethic.
- Physical fitness for manual handling and working at height if necessary.
- Good communication skills.
- Willingness to travel locally and work in various environments.
