Classic HGV Restorations is recruiting a Body & Paint Technician for our premises at Oulartard, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, Ireland. The salary range starts from €34,000 (€13.33/hr) based on a 39-hour week. Salary may be more depending on experience and skills, and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required.
As a Body & Paint Technician, your main purpose is to expertly prepare, paint, and finish classic Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs). This involves executing dent removal, filler work, panel preparation, priming, and applying high-quality finishes using advanced 2K paint systems. Precision, patience, and craftsmanship are crucial in this role to meet the high standards expected by our discerning clientele. You'll work in a well-equipped workshop environment with dedicated spray booths, drying chambers, and state-of-the-art equipment to ensure flawless results. The role may include some travel for sourcing materials or attending training sessions but predominantly involves working on-site. Your shift will typically align with standard daytime hours, but flexibility may be required for special projects or deadlines. Training opportunities will be provided to enhance your skills, and there's potential for career progression within the company, moving into supervisory or specialist roles.
**Responsibilities:**
- Prepare vehicles by inspecting and cleaning surfaces before painting.
- Remove dents and perform filler work to achieve a smooth, flawless finish.
- Sand and prime vehicle surfaces, ensuring proper adhesion.
- Apply high-quality 2K paint systems, ensuring even coverage and color accuracy.
- Perform detailed finishing, including polishing and detailing vehicles.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety standards within the workshop.
- Operate spray guns and other painting equipment safely.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on tools and equipment.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used.
- Collaborate with colleagues to meet production deadlines.
- Follow all health and safety regulations.
- Assist in sourcing quality materials for painting projects.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
**Key Requirements:**
- Safe Pass certification (not specifically required but preferred).
- Manual Handling certification is not mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of automotive painting techniques.
- Familiarity with 2K paint systems and spray equipment.
- Good attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to health and safety regulations.
- Experience in automotive or heavy vehicle painting is preferred.
- Ability to work flexibly, including occasional overtime.
- No specific educational qualification required but relevant experience is advantageous.
- Must be physically capable of manual work involved.
- Drivers license class B is preferred.
