J Keane & Sons (Ros) Ltd is recruiting an Automotive Technician for our premises at Lanesboro St, Roscommon. The salary range starts from €34,900 (€16.77/hr) based on a 40-hour week. Salary may be more depending on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required. Our company specializes in automotive diagnosis, repairs, and servicing of all vehicle types, ensuring the highest standards and adherence to manufacturer specifications. The role involves daily vehicle diagnostics, fixing mechanical and electrical faults, routine servicing, brake repairs, engine diagnostics, and other essential maintenance tasks. The work environment is highly professional, well-equipped with modern diagnostic tools, lifts, and specialized automotive equipment. The position requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced garage setting. Tools and equipment including diagnostic scanners, hand tools, and electrical testing devices will be used. The technician will work primarily indoors but may be required to perform some external vehicle inspections or remedial work. Travel is generally confined to the local area for customer vehicle pickups or supplier visits if applicable. Shift patterns are typically daytime hours, with some overtime and weekend work based on business needs. Comprehensive manufacturer training will be provided to stay current with evolving automotive technology, and opportunities for career progression within the company are available. Responsibilities: - Perform vehicle diagnostics using latest electronic testing tools. - Repair and replace faulty components, including engines, brakes, and electrical systems. - Conduct routine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections. - Keep accurate records of all repairs, diagnostics, and maintenance tasks. - Ensure all work is compliant with manufacturer specifications and safety standards. - Maintain a clean and organized work environment. - Regularly update technical knowledge through manufacturer training sessions. - Assist with inventory management of parts and tools. - Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs and maintenance procedures. - Follow health and safety procedures at all times. - Support team members and contribute to a collaborative working environment. Key Requirements: - Full UK or Irish driving license, with standard or equivalent class. - Qualified Mechanic or Technician, with at least a trade/apprenticeship qualification. - Previous experience in automotive diagnosis and repairs (preferred). - Knowledge of current vehicle systems and diagnostic software. - Strong problem-solving skills and technical aptitude. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Good communication skills for liaising with customers and suppliers. - Compliance with health and safety regulations. - Manual handling and safety training as per requirements. - Flexibility to work overtime and weekends if needed.
