QME Mining and Tunnelling is recruiting an Underground Miner for our premises at Coolfore Road Ardbraccan Navan, Navan, Ireland. The salary range starts from €51,500 (€22.15/hr) based on a 36.5-hour week. Salary may be more based on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required.
Join our team as an Underground Miner responsible for developing drifts and tunnels to support ongoing mining activities. The role involves operating specialized underground equipment such as Jumbo drills, LHD loaders, Scalers, and Bolters to ensure precise and safe excavation work. You will be involved in ground support installation, including rock bolts and mesh, to stabilize underground environments and guarantee worker safety. Additionally, you will follow detailed mining plans, ensuring all activities are compliant with safety standards and operational goals. The position requires familiarity with drilling and blasting procedures, along with managing the transportation of mined materials to designated areas.
Work conditions involve working in confined underground environments, often requiring safety gear and adherence to strict safety protocols, including proper PPE, emergency procedures, and hazard identification measures. The role may involve operating various types of heavy machinery and tools, with safety and efficiency prioritized at all times. Training will be provided on equipment and safety standards, and there are opportunities for career progression as part of our ongoing development program.
Responsibilities include performing underground development tasks, operating mining equipment efficiently, installing ground support systems such as rock bolts and mesh, adhering to mining and safety plans, performing drilling and blasting duties, managing material handling and transportation, conducting quality control checks, and working collaboratively with other team members to meet daily targets.
Key requirements include a valid Safe Pass and First Aid Responder certification, manual handling experience, ability to work in confined and physically demanding environments, and knowledge of safety regulations specific to underground mining. Experience with operating mining machinery and familiarity with relevant safety standards is preferred. A clean Drivers Licence (Class B) is advantageous, with international permits accepted.
