Classic HGV Restorations is recruiting a skilled HGV Welder for our premises at Oulartard, Co. Wexford. This hands-on role involves the assembly and disassembly of classic heavy goods vehicles, metal fabrication, and the repair or replacement of rusted components. You’ll be expected to craft new parts from sheet metal, use shaping tools such as the box and pan folder, and carry out high-quality MIG and TIG welding. The salary range starts from €34,000 (€16.77/hr) based on a 39-hour week. Salary may be more based on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required. As an HGV Welder, your main purpose is to ensure the structural integrity and appearance of vintage and classic HGVs through precise welding, fabrication, and assembly. Daily activities include repairing rusted panels, fabricating parts, and working closely with other technicians to restore vehicles to their original condition. The work environment is a dedicated workshop fitted with modern fabrication equipment, welding machines, and safety gear to ensure safe working conditions. You will handle tools such as MIG and TIG welders, sheet metal bending apparatus, and diagnostic equipment for vehicle assessments. Travel is minimal but may occasionally be required for off-site repairs or vehicle pickups. The role is primarily workshop-based, with a focus on precision craftsmanship. Training is provided on advanced techniques and safety procedures, and there are opportunities for career progression within the company, including supervisory roles or specialized fabrication expertise. Responsibilities: - Disassemble and reassemble classic vehicle components - Repair rust-damaged panels and structural parts - Fabricate new components from sheet metal using traditional and modern techniques - Operate shaping tools, including box and pan folders and other fabrication equipment - MIG and TIG weld to a high standard on various metal thicknesses - Work with precision and pride, handling all parts with care - Ensure all fabrication work complies with safety standards and vehicle specifications - Maintain detailed records of work completed and parts used - Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times - Assist in maintaining workshop cleanliness and safety protocols - Collaborate with project managers and other team members to meet deadlines and quality standards Key Requirements: - Manual Handling and Safe Pass certification (not specifically required but preferred) - At least 2 years experience in metal fabrication or welding, preferably in automotive or vehicle restoration - Good knowledge of welding techniques, including MIG and TIG - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship - Ability to work with high precision on complex vehicle parts - Basic understanding of vehicle mechanics and structural components - Good physical fitness and manual dexterity - Ability to follow technical drawings and specifications - Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional overtime to meet project deadlines Additional Information: Overtime rates may apply depending on workload.
