Alpha Mechanical Services Ltd is recruiting a skilled Estimator for our premises at Unit 8 Willsborough Business Centre, Willsborough Industrial Estate, Clonshaugh, Dublin. The salary range starts from €45,000 (€19.23/hr) based on a 39-hour week. Salary may be more based on experience and will increase proportionately if additional hours are required. The role of Estimator involves detailed assessment of repair and maintenance projects within the construction sector. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, reviewing technical reports, and interpreting project requirements to deliver competitive quotes. You will work in a busy, dynamic environment that demands precision and attention to detail. The position involves constant collaboration with project managers, clients, and suppliers to ensure estimates are realistic and reflect current market conditions. As an Estimator, your main duties include reviewing project reports, extracting relevant data, calculating costs of materials and labour, and maintaining an up-to-date database of material prices. You will use Microsoft Office tools like Excel and specialized estimating software to produce timely and accurate cost proposals. Work shifts are regular office hours, with no specific overnight or weekend work required, though deadlines can occasionally necessitate extra hours. Training is provided to develop estimating skills and familiarity with company procedures, with opportunities for career growth within the organization. **Responsibilities:** - Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for repair works - Review technical reports and interpret project requirements - Calculate costs based on material, labour, and overheads - Use and maintain the company’s database of material costs - Ensure that estimates are accurate, competitive, and within deadlines - Manage high-volume, low-value quotes typically between €200 and €5,000 - Collaborate with colleagues and management to ensure a smooth workflow - Keep records of estimates, project details, and modifications - Assist in analyzing past projects to improve accuracy of future estimates - Keep abreast of industry pricing trends and market conditions - Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements - Support other departments with technical data when needed **Key Requirements:** - Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail - Ability to read and interpret technical and project reports - Good command of written and spoken English - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) - Ability to learn and adapt to estimating tools and software - Positive attitude and willingness to develop skills - Strong organisational skills to manage multiple projects - Ability to work as part of a team - Previous experience in estimating or construction-related roles (desirable) - Full training will be provided; special licenses are not required - Good understanding of construction processes and material costs **Additional Information:** Overtime is not typically required but may be available and paid at standard rates if working beyond scheduled hours.
